Thanks for posting this very enjoyable and timely article. I have always regarded baseball as one of the higher ordinances of the gospel, corrupted though it is by the ridiculous salaries, the steroid scandal, the machinations of Bud Selig and his ilk, and all the other things that have been done to it in recent years. And my own team loyalties still run pretty heavily toward the Cubs and the Indians.
I saw Yaz and Tony C and Rico Petrocelli play at Fenway when I was a kid. Last year was bliss. Go Red Sox. Eat rocks, Yankees.
I remember all of them, especially from the 1967 World Series. The American League pennant race that year was one for the ages, wasn't it?
