Moussaoui: "America, you lost!"?

No. Don't think so.

According to Fox News, he'll likely be placed in the "Supermax" prison in the desert 90 miles south of Denver
in a 7-by-12-foot cell where he will be confined for 23 hours a day. Inside the cell is a concrete bed, stool and desk as well as a toilet and a shower. A small slatted window allows some natural light. For one hour each day, he will have a "recreation" period but still will be in chains and isolated.
Hmm. I think America won. "You will die," said the sentencing judge, "with a whimper."

Have a nice rest of your life (six consecutive life terms with no possibility of parole), Mr. Jihad.

I actually hope he lives until about age 85 in that tiny cell, anguishing over having missed his chance for glorious martyrdom. And maybe around that time, some enraged fellow prisoner will finish him off in a painful manner.

The result of that trial is being criticized by some, but in my view it emphasizes our moral superiority over Moussaoui and others of his ilk. I think no one can reasonably claim that he did not receive a fair trial, and all of the procedural safeguards built into the American criminal justice system were employed for his benefit. The jury spared his life, in spite of the fact that he openly relished having participated in a monstruous plot which resulted in the deaths of some 3000 innocent Americans, who in effect were summarily executed without having had anything even remotely resembling a fair trial. So even though I am a firm believer in capital punishment, I agree with the jury's decision in this particular case.

So let him rot!
