Politically correct screening won't catch terrorists

Charles Krauthammer on the London bombing aftermath and terrorist profiling. You should always read Krauthammer (you can link from our blogroll -- BTW, this piece is from Jewish World Review, not the usual Townhall link to the right).

We can always count on Krauthammer to tell it like it is. I got searched at the St. Louis airport on the way to Italy three years ago, and as part of the search I had to remove my shoes. This was about five months after the Richard Reid incident. I remember joking in one of my e-mails that I probably aroused suspicions because St. Louis was the home of the Cardinals and I was wearing a Cubs baseball cap, and I submitted to the search as good-naturedly as I knew how. Even so, I did think it was a bit ridiculous. But at least that time, the man who was searched just ahead of me did have a Middle Eastern appearance, and was somewhere between 17 and 40 years of age; so I suppose it was necessary for them to search me as well, in order to satisfy the requirements of Political Correctness.
