BYU 33 Utah 31

Three touchdowns in the fourth quarter to come from behind before a hostile crowd at Rice-Eccles. 3.2 seconds to go. 11-yard TD pass from John Beck to Johnny Harline.
Amazing! Video and details here and here.
BYU ended 6-6 in 2005. In Coach Bronco Mendenhall's second year, BYU finishes the regular season undefeated (8-0) in the MWC, MWC champion, 10-2 overall, and #20 in the AP poll. BYU outranks the two teams it lost to early in the season (Arizona 13-16 on last-second field goal, and Boston College 23-30 in 2 OT).

iPod: "The Perfect Thing"

WIRED magazine has a 5-year retrospective on the introduction of the first iPod (see the original foam mockup, below):

BYU football on a roll

Praise from the Salt Lake Tribune for anything "BYU" is hard to come by. Read a nice Trib piece on the state of BYU football here.

The Cougs (now 8-2 overall and 6-0 in MWC) played #2-in-league Wyoming (ranked 4th in total defense nationally) Thursday night and destroyed them 55-7.

Making a statement: this fourth quarter photo shows the attitude and effort of this team. With BYU up 41-0, Wyoming had it fourth down and inches, and linebackers Markell Staffieri and Cameron Jensen timed the snap and dove over the line (ala Kyle Morrell in 1984 at Hawaii) to sack Wyoming's quarterback for a loss.

Go Cougs! Clinch the title outright against UNM next Saturday, roll the Utes, and then win your bowl!

U.S. enemies happy Dems won?

Hmm.

Are we more secure with the Dems in charge?

Al Qaeda is gloating about Dems taking power and Rumsfeld resigning: ""The American people have put their feet on the right path . . . ."

Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei also celebrated Democratic gains: "Since Washington's hostile and hawkish policies have always been against the Iranian nation, this defeat is actually an obvious victory for the Iranian nation."

Defeat of Republicans = victory for our enemies? Hmm.

UPDATE: In response, Iraqpundit says "Speak up, Democrats!":
Doesn't it behoove the Democrats to correct the claim that their ascension to power is good news for the enemies of the U.S.? . . .
Democrats don't have a party position on what to do in Iraq. But surely they have a party position on whether they want to be embraced by the likes of Al Qaeda and Iran. Don't they? Speak up, Democrats, or Al Qaeda and the Iranian mullahs will find your silence only too eloquent.

Cleveland Rocks!

Our oldest daughter Kelly received her LDS mission call last night to the Ohio Cleveland Mission.

Included in her mission boundaries are LDS Church historical sites including the Newell K. Whitney store, the Isaac Morley farm, and the Kirtland Temple. It also includes a Church Visitor's Center in Kirtland.

Cleveland is also just across Lake Erie from our son David's mission in Toronto, Canada. Kelly will enter the MTC in January.

Dr. Jones editorializes
