A Mormon JFK in 2008?

Hugh Hewitt comments on a Weekly Standard piece on Massachusetts' Republican Governor Mitt Romney, a potential presidential candidate in '08, and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Hewitt also quotes from a Kennedy speech confronting the issue of a Catholic running for President. All are good reads.

Unfortunately, I don't see a snowball's chance in you-know-where of a Latter-day Saint becoming President. Even the evangelical Christians, who were so instrumental in getting Bush re-elected, would shun Mitt Romney as a non-Christian and the product of an evil and satanic cult.

Which is a shame, of course, because I like Mitt and think he would probably make a fine President. And I'll vote for Mickey Mouse before I cast a ballot in favor of Lady Macbeth.
